The Golden State Warriors have been a pillar of stability over the past dozen years. They've got the two longest tenured players in the league, the second-longest tenured coach, and an ownership that's been in place for over 15 years. In fact, there's an argument to be made that the Warriors have become too stable.

As first reported by ESPN's Ramona Shelburne on Wednesday, American businessmen Josh Kushner and Bob Iger are purchasing the Lakers off Mark Walter who had only recently bought the franchise off the Buss family last year.
It's a dramatic sequence of events in the short period since Doncic joined the Lakers early last year in one of the biggest bombshells moves in NBA trade history. The front office has used this offseason to now completely rebuild the roster around the Slovenian superstar, making a myriad of moves in free agency headlined by the sign-and-trade acquisition of former Utah Jazz center Walker Kessler.

But success requires coordination at every level and it's hard to achieve that with the controlling voices constantly changing. Only time will tell if this ownership move filters down to the on-court aspect of the Lakers, but there's no doubt it's another major day in the history of the franchise.
Much of the reasoning behind the Lakers' big roster changes this offseason stems from knowing they're on the clock with Doncic. Unlike Curry with Golden State, this isn't a homegrown star who Los Angeles drafted and nurtured. The 27-year-old is only under guaranteed contract for two more seasons, and the Lakers have to get things right to ensure Doncic's eye doesn't wander elsewhere.
Warriors have become too predictable in recent years
The Warriors are almost on the other end of the spectrum when it comes to Curry. They're too stable to the point it's become stale, proving that again this summer by bringing back the same roster and failing to sign one single rival player through six weeks of free agency.
The inability and/or unwillingness to make change is now leading to speculation over Curry's future, with general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. even admitting on Tuesday that they'd listen to a trade request if it came from the two-time MVP.
Wednesday's ownership news is another indication of just how different the Lakers and Warriors are right now. The reality is that they may both be getting it wrong when it comes to the balance of continuity and the need for change.
