This was Stephen Curry‘s game from the start as the Golden State Warriors defeated the Washington Wizards 134-121.

At times, it seemed as if Curry was out on the floor by himself. He electrified a DC crowd filled with Warriors fans, with his dazzling play. He hit 9-10 from the field for 25 points. He also shot 7-8 from beyond the arc, with each one more spectacular than the last. The Wizards had no answer for Curry who was getting open even when the Wizards played good defense and forced the Dubs to scramble. The Warriors won the quarter 43-28.

Golden State had a horrible start to the quarter, allowing Washington to score back to back buckets at the rim. The period was sloppy and the Warriors turned the ball over. After allowing 25 points to Curry in the first, John Wall tried to get in the MVP’s space, attacking on both ends. Wall was assessed a technical foul after he was called for a personal foul. The Warriors’ turnovers were too much for them to overcome in the second period and the Wizards narrowly won it 32-31.

The Warriors double digit lead was cut down by a re-energized Washington team. After stumbling for the first few minutes, the Warriors were able to recover and move the ball around and get good looks for Curry and Andre Iguodala. With time winding down, the Wizards planned to intentionally foul Iguodala, but as Marcin Gortat grabbed him, he threw up a one-handed heave from half court that rattled in. Despite the Warriors’ pleas, the officials did not give Iguodala continuation even though he never dribbled again. Washington’s intensity won them the third 32-29.

The fourth quarter was Curry vs. Wall. The two All-Star point guards exchanged baskets or dished out assists, trying to will their respective teams to victory as the game hung in the balance. The biggest storyline in the quarter was Curry’s made three-pointers and if he would tie or break the record for most in a game (12). With a little under three minutes left, Curry hit his 11th of the night, but he didn’t attempt another as the Warriors had put the game out of reach.

Curry finished with 51 points and Wall scored 41. Despite being in foul trouble for some of the game, Draymond Green added another triple-double 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists. He also added five blocks.
