Curry and Durant named Co-Players of the Month for January
The Golden State Warriors’ superstars Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant were named Co-Players of the Month for their spectacular January.
The Golden State Warriors are starting to really figure it out. They’re clicking and playing some incredible high-level basketball. That starts with their two MVPs, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.
The two superstars were supposed to be the best duo in basketball once Durant decided to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder in favor of the Bay Area. Two of the league’s top three players were joining forces in a system that maximizes a player’s ability. It was supposed to be unstoppable.

And, for the most part, it has been. The Warriors have been winning a lot of games. They dropped their first game of the season, but bounced back and shot to the top of the league quickly.
But that was the Kevin Durant show. On Christmas Day, it was KD who dominated the Cleveland Cavaliers and it was Curry’s shortcomings that ultimately made Golden State fall to their rivals. People, including myself, were ready to hand the team over.
Curry sacrificed his own game in order to make Durant comfortable. They were winning, but it didn’t feel like they had figured it out yet. And then, he put it together.
Curry and Durant have been named Co-Players of the Month for January. The former returned to his MVP form and the latter continued to have an MVP-type season. They completely dominated as Golden State continued to get better.
Durant averaged 27.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. He shot 56.5 percent and had an offensive rating of 126. Curry averaged 27.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 6.9 assists. He shot 48 percent from the field and 43 percent from three. He had a few big games, including a 43 point outing against the Clippers.

The two superstars have been absolutely magnificent. When one guy is on his game the team is hard to stop. When they both get into a rhythm, it’s over. The team truly is unstoppable.
The Warriors are starting to look like the team we expected them to. Curry and Durant are going to build off their big January and carry that momentum all the way into June.
