The Golden State Warriors exploded in the second half to blowout the Sacramento Kings after a slow start.
When a championship level team is having fits with a lesser opponent, they eventually put the foot down in a big way. The Sacramento Kings have been like a thorn in the side of the Golden State Warriors recently and they once again were that thorn in the first half on Wednesday night. Then the Warriors had enough.

In the first half, the Kings played the Warriors much like they did in Sacramento. They controlled the pace of the game, DeMarcus Cousins controlled the paint and Golden State could not getting anything going offensively. Perhaps it was Draymond Green at the end of the first half that provided a spark.
Green argued with officials about a call that he didn’t like and was tossed from the game for receiving his second technical. With the Warriors down 50-47 after a bad offensive showing in the second quarter, the team looked lethargic and like they were ready to go in the break.
Well that all changed in the third quarter. On both ends of the floor, the Warriors exploded on the Kings. Klay Thompson went off in the third quarter as part of a 35-point night and the Warriors went from down three at the half to up 24 points going into the final quarter.
It wasn’t just the offense that locked in either. The defense did their part and held Sacramento to just 15 points in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the defense once again clicked and kept the Kings to just 21 points in the final frame.

Golden State would only score 20 in the last quarter but it didn’t matter. They managed to win this game with one incredible quarter of basketball. It was also a career night for Stephen Curry on the defensive side of the ball.
Curry finished the game with two blocks on the night. That’s a career high for him and even more impressively, he blocked Kings center Willie Cauley-Stein. The team goes into the break with a 47-9 record. That’s tops in the league and they sit comfortably atop the Western Conference.
