Miami is on the cusp of cementing their legacy. For the past 20 years, there has been an expectation that dynasties win at least three championships – and if those championship runs are consecutive, those dynasties belong among the best teams in NBA history.

With LeBron James leading the way, the Heat look to be the favorite to win the East in 2013-14. The Heat have already had three consecutive Finals appearances, and a fourth doesn’t look like it’s out of question. Even with an improved Chicago Bulls, Brooklyn Nets and Indiana Pacers threatening their reign, the Heat know that having the best player on the court will always give them more than a fighting chance to win.

James is already considered by some to be the greatest NBA player of all-time. Whether or not that’s true is beyond the scope of this article but it’s important to acknowledge the fact that James is even being considered greater than Jordan.

James and the Heat have the talent and determination to reach the pinnacle of success – the three-peat. If so, the dynasty of the Miami Heat has officially arrived.
