While his numbers aren’t eye-popping, it’s been clear that Shaun Livingston understands his role off the bench and has proven that he’s more than capable of fulfilling it. With a superstar like Stephen Curry at point guard, all the Warriors really need from Livingston is for him to provide stability to the offense when Curry is off the floor and to play consistent defense.

Though he only plays about 18 minutes per game, when he is on the floor, Livingston has gotten it done. He only turns the ball over a little more than once per game, averages 3.5 assists and helps ensure that the ball keeps moving, evidenced by his average of 35.7 passes per game, which is higher than other backup point guards who play significantly more minutes than Livingston such as D.J. Augustin and Devin Harris. On defense, his 6’6” frame helps him create havoc in the perimeter passing lanes and his long strides allow him to stay in front of opposing guards when they try and get to the rim.
His minutes may be limited due to Kerr wanting to play Curry as much as possible, but when he does see the floor, how he plays will be vital to the Warriors’ playoff success.
Verdict: In.
