There are currently six players vying for the final roster spot, and none more enticing than Ben Gordon, who the Warriors signed last week.

Gordon’s career has taken a downturn in recent years since a promising start with the Bulls, where he won the Sixth Man of the Year Award in his rookie season. Since averaging over 20 points per game in two of his first five seasons in Chicago, Gordon has bounced around the league and seen his production plummet. He averaged 6.2 points in 56 games with the Magic last season.

But the Gordon of 2008 — if the 32-year-old can find it again — could be valuable for the Warriors, who need a sharp shooter off the bench. Gordon has never been hesitant to fire away and for his career is shooting over 40 percent from three-point range.

The veteran slimmed down with a vegetarian diet and hopes to make the defending champions’ roster.

For what it’s worth, 50 percent of Gordon’s salary will be guaranteed if he is not waived by the first regular season game on Oct. 27.
