The Blue Man Hoop team discusses their reaction to the Golden State Warriors signing Kevin Durant.

More from Stephen Curry

When the Golden State Warriors dropped a 3-1 lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 NBA Finals and eventually failed in their attempt to win consecutive titles, NBA pundits and fans alike demonstrated their lack of fear of sharing how disappointing the Warriors had become after winning an NBA record 73 regular season games.

Stephen Curry, a two-time NBA MVP, was now known as a system player and a choker whose arrogance got the better of him.

Klay Thompson, despite a superstar performance against the Oklahoma City Thunder, was reduced to being just a shooter that fell short in the Finals.

And Draymond Green, who has been widely praised for his two-way versatility, was accused of being a dirty player after landing three inadvertent groin shots that were extensively reviewed by the league and ruled as not being that serious.

But the world soon forgot all about that conversation as soon as Kevin Durant — one of the top three players in the world, announced that he’d be looking to sign a deal with the Warriors.

The conversation shifted to how Curry was the best point guard in the league, how Thompson was the second best shooter in the history of the sport and the best two-way shooting guard in the NBA, and how Green was the only player in the NBA capable of guarding every position.

Durant became the NBA’s top villain, denounced for his decision to join an NBA “super team” of unfair proportions despite the Warriors being known as the most overrated team in NBA history just the night before.

So naturally, the Blue Man Hoop podcast crew got together to talk about the craziness of it all, and more specifically, how they reacted to the Durant news and the subsequent roster moves involving Zaza Pachulia and David West.

With podcast regulars Ryan Viera and Segun Giwa unable to record, the podcast introduced newcomers Andy Serbe and Michael Shultz as recurring contributors to the podcast. Blue Man Hoop editor Carlos Murillo remained in his usual role, while Angelo Mendoza took over as moderator for this particular episode.
