Kevin Durant, the Golden State Warriors’ superstar forward, could miss months of action with his knee injury according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Kevin Durant’s MRI results will not be out until Wednesday, at some point. Right now, everything is speculation. However, it’s not looking to good for the Golden State Warriors and the superstar forward.

Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Warriors are fearing that they could be without their MVP forward for months. This is obviously not the news Golden State wants to hear. Durant could miss the rest of the season.

More from Blue Man Hoop

The Warriors have started to prepare for Durant’s absence by coming to an agreement with veteran forward Matt Barnes. They’re going to have a hole at that position and Barnes is a body that can fill it. Of course, Durant’s production cannot be replaced.

While nothing is known yet, Woj’s report suggests a few things. It’s not an MCL sprain like Stephen Curry’s during last season’s playoffs. That injury, depending on the grade, can be recovered from in anywhere between two weeks to a month or so. This is a little worse.

Months suggests that it’s not a torn ACL. That would have him sidelined for a year and he wouldn’t suit up again until next season. So it’s somewhere between Steph Curry and Jabari Parker.

Ideally, the Warriors would like to have Durant either before the playoffs or sometime during the first round. It looks like they’re going to go without him a little longer than that. If the months report is confirmed by the MRI, then they might have to find a way to get back to the Western Conference Finals without him.

Golden State still has a team with three other All-Stars. They’re talented enough to get back to the West Finals. A Durant-less Warriors were amazing last season. For all intents and purposes, this year’s bench and starting center are improved from last year as well.

The Warriors can still be great, but their margin of error just got a lot smaller. Hopefully for the Dubs, when the news breaks, it’ll reveal that his injury is less severe than initially feared.
