The Warriors do not need a win in San Antonio
The Golden State Warriors will play the San Antonio Spurs on the second night of a back to back. A loss wouldn’t mean much in the long run.
The Golden State Warriors have a 2.5 game lead on the San Antonio Spurs. They’ll face off tonight for the third time this year. This isn’t a must-win game for the Dubs.
Even with a loss, the Warriors will still be in first place. They’ll have more games to gain separation on the Spurs, as long as they handle their business. Their season doesn’t rely on this one game.

More importantly, this game will not mean anything once the playoffs start. A lot of times, marquee matchups will excite fans for the postseason. Regular season games serve as a preview of what’s to come.
Spurs games are never like that. Gregg Popovich will never show his hand in March. He always has some extra trick of his sleeve saved for the postseason.
The Warriors could very well get swept by the Spurs and there would be no reason to be alarmed. The first loss was a thrashing at Oracle Arena in the first game with their revamped roster. They are not the same team they were then.
The second loss was a one-sided affair in San Antonio in which no one played. The Warriors rested Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Andre Iguodala while Kevin Durant was also out. The Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge were out with injuries.
Tonight, the Warriors will be on the second night of a back-to-back. They played a tough game against the Rockets. While the trip from Houston to San Antonio isn’t that bad, they still competed in a difficult matchup 24 hours earlier.
Again, the Warriors are without Kevin Durant. Popovich will keep some bullets in the chamber. What we’ll see tomorrow won’t be what we’d see in a potential Western Conference Finals series.

Getting swept won’t mean that the Warriors can’t beat the Spurs. Playing in San Antonio is tough, but Golden State’s full squad hasn’t really had a chance to go down there to play. The Warriors shouldn’t let one more loss to them bring them down because the Spurs, surely, won’t get too high off a win.
