The Golden State Warriors will be taking on the Cleveland Cavalier for the third year in a row in the NBA Finals in the highly anticipated tiebreaker.

It’s official. The Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers will be facing off in the NBA Finals for the third year in a row. It will be the rubber match.

The Warriors have swept their way into the NBA Finals. They defeated the Portland Trailblazers, Utah Jazz, and San Antonio Spurs. They are the first team to reach the Finals with a 12-0 record.

The Cavaliers couldn’t quite reach 12 wins in a row, dropping the Game 3 in the Eastern Conference. They swept the Indiana Pacers and the Toronto Raptors. They dispatched the Boston Celtics in five games.

The regular season and the first three rounds of the playoffs were formalities for many. It seemed like these two teams were destined to face off from the beginning. And here they are, for the third time in a row.

Golden State won the 2015 Finals, clinching Game 6 inside the Quicken Loans Arena. Cleveland famously overcame their 1-3 deficit in the 2016 Finals and won an instant classic in Game 7. Now they get to break their tie.

This series was the best possible one. While both times might not have faced the best competition, they handled who was in front of them. These two were supposed to meet.

Legacies and narratives will be on the line in this one. LeBron James’ case for the greatest of all-time could be sealed with a victory here. Stephen Curry and Draymond Green are looking for redemption. Kevin Durant is looking for vindication.

The series will tipoff on June 1st in Oakland California.
