The Golden State Warriors have won two championships in three years, but they have their eyes sight on being the best dynasty ever.

The Golden State Warriors celebrated on the Oracle Arena floor after defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. They fell just short of a perfect postseason, going 16-1 after falling to the Cavs in Game 4. Still, they were dominant throughout the entire playoffs.

This is the Warriors’ second championship in three years. It’s been the best three year run in basketball history and, possibly, North American sports history. They’ve achieved the ultimate goal twice.

Winning a championship is the goal for most teams. You want to build and be the last team standing once. The Warriors have bigger aspirations than that.

Golden State is trying to build a dynasty. Signing Durant obviously meant that the Warriors were going all in on getting their revenge on the Cavaliers for 2016. But it also meant that the Warriors were thinking longer term.

The Dubs played the Cavs. They didn’t sign Durant just to beat LeBron James. They signed him to establish one of the greatest dynasties the dynasty-heavy NBA has ever seen.

With a core of four All-Stars in their prime, the Warriors aren’t content with just winning one. When James teamed up with the Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami, they had their infamous “not one…not two…not three…” speech. They ended up winning just two in four years. If they had only won one, the experiment might have been considered a failure.

The Warriors have all summer to celebrate this championship. They earned it. It’s only just the beginning though.

Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and Durant are planning on wreaking havoc on the league for years to come. The foreseeable future is very golden. The Warriors want to have several more parades (which they can improve upon).

This was the first year the new-look Warriors were together. They were still a little rough around the edges at times. That is a scary fact for the rest of the league.

The defending champion Golden State Warriors are nowhere near their peak. Good luck, everybody.
