Golden State Warriors: JaVale McGee returning adds up
The timing and situation in place seems to indicate that JaVale McGee returning to the Golden State Warriors should be in the cards.
History in sports indicates that a veteran on a one-year flier tends to end up in a different spot the following season. If said veteran excels in his role in that year, then he’s in line for a nice payday that comes from another team if his current one is cash strapped. Will that be the case with JaVale McGee?

After the Warriors were the team to take a chance on him and bring him into the fold last season, they were rewarded for their efforts. Although he didn’t play many minutes on the floor, McGee turned in one of his most productive seasons and became a favorite almost immediately.
His feud with Shaq had Warriors fans rallying around him. The dunks he threw down served as a reminder of his athletic potential. He was a positive for the team and now that should parlay him a nice deal in free agency.
However, the circumstances are a little different with McGee. As a player that has bounced around the league often in his career to date, the desire to stay in one place is often something lost on a journeyman.
The way McGee has taken to the community so quick is something that can’t be ignored. Neither can his comments at his celebrity softball game. McGee told KTVU that he hopes he will be returning to the Warriors next season.

With the Warriors having to get critical free agents like Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston back in the fold after they get Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry on new deals, it’s going to be tough to bring back everyone.
There’s no guarantee either that either Iguodala or Livingston return. Although, Durant’s deal should give them the wiggle room to get Iguodala back under contract. Free agency is going to be madness per usual and players are going to get big offers. McGee might get a nice offer from someone, but it sounds like his heart is in the bay. If that is the case, the Warriors are in the right spot to bring him back.
