There wasn’t a bigger narrative in the 2016-17 NBA regular season than that of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. From the fans wearing cupcake shirts, to the two trying to one up the other, this rivalry became solidified. While Durant leaving was personal for Oklahoma City and Westbrook certainly wasn’t happy, the Thunder guard went on to have one of the best regular seasons in NBA history and was awarded the MVP on Monday night.

On Tuesday, Durant took to his YouTube page and did the classy thing by congratulating Westbrook and the rest of the players that won awards. The NBA Finals MVP was proud to see former teammates of his standing out and having success along with other young players showing out the great future the league has.

Despite the way some might feel about Durant for leaving and joining the Warriors, he is always going to show character in these situations. At the end of the day, him and Westbrook still have a deep bond that goes way back.
