According to a report, David West will re-sign with the Golden State Warriors and provide depth up front next season.

More from Warriors Free Agency

The Golden State Warriors have wasted no time getting business done once free agency began. As expected, the team was ready to strike once they were officially able to and they are quickly getting the team locked in.

With Stephen Curry and Shaun Livingston having new deals, the team went ahead and locked up one of the older vets on the roster. According to David Aldridge, David West is going to once again re-sign with the Warriors on a one-year deal.

Thanks to the rise in the salary cap, West will make a little more on the veteran’s minimum once again and that makes it easier to turn down a little more elsewhere. He also will have a big role once again as a mentor on the team.

With the addition of Jordan Bell to the roster and Damian Jones likely to get called up to the big roster, West will provide more value than just on the court. The Warriors believe they have two young big men that can be big pieces down the line and what they can learn from a veteran like West is important.

Although he plays limited minutes, the toughness he provides and the leadership can’t be understated. He was a great addition to the locker room this season and having him back is huge for Golden State.

The big key left in free agency is trying to get Andre Iguodala re-signed. That’s going to be tough especially if some team offers him a ridiculous contract, but Golden State is ultimately going to make the best decision for the team. Thus far, they have done a great job of locking in some key bench pieces and getting Curry a massive deal.
