Kevin Durant released an amazing YouTube documentary about his journey starting with his early life all the way up to his amazing championship run with the Golden State Warriors.

Often times athletes can’t control their own story. Narratives are crafted by those who have no inside knowledge into their world. Yes, I understand the irony in writing that.

Kevin Durant wants to take back control. It’s why–when he made the decision to join the Golden State Warriors one year ago–he wrote on the Player’s Tribune. And it’s why he decided to create a YouTube channel.

Durant launched his channel at the start of the 2017 playoffs. He used it to just talk about his life. It was a the story of Durant’s journey through the postseason directly from the source.

He released various episodes as he marched towards his first championship. He did things like stream himself at the Chance the Rapper concert, release his post-title Nike commercial, and create a series he titled “Still KD.”

This morning Durant released his film “Still KD: Through the Noise.” It’s over a half hour long and it’s absolutely worth it. It’s a really great look at Durant.

The YouTube movie looks at his journey growing up and reaching the professional level. It’s Durant’s perspective on his decision to join the Warriors and everything that came after it. It follows him throughout the season as he embarked on his first championship quest.

The film features commentary from many important figures in Durant’s professional and personal life. Of course, his mother, Wanda, is in it. There are interesting anecdotes from people in his past and his present that give the fans more insight into how Durant operates.

Durant had to go through a lot over the last season. While many will say he took the easy way out–something he objects to quite strongly–he reached his goal. Despite the criticism and the setbacks on the court like dealing with any chemistry issues and his injuries, he persevered.

“Still KD” is honest, interesting, and real.
