Golden State Warriors: Five lineups we want to see next year
1. Stephen Curry-Nick Young-Klay Thompson-Omri Casspi-Kevin Durant
This lineup would be everything. It’s not the Curry-Thompson-Iguodala-Durant-Green combo, but it might be even more fun. At least on one end of the floor.
Defensively, this is far from the Warriors’ best lineup. Steph Curry, Nick Young, and Omri Casspi are competent defenders. Still, they could do better.
But this lineup isn’t about defense. This five-man unit is about going all in on spacing and shooting. This lineup features three high volume shooters who knocked down over 40 percent of their threes. Oh, and you get to add Kevin Durant to it.
Durant at the center spot is extremely fun. We got a little of it during the Finals and more of it would be a joy. His defense was amazing last year and the problems he would pose for centers trying to defend him would be abundant.
Casspi is another guy who can space the floor. That’s why the Warriors signed him. He is there to knock down threes and give the guys who want to drive and post up more room to operate.
Curry, Young, and Thompson were all fantastic from deep last season. With more space and the greenest light ever, they could all heat up and bombard opponents with long shots in a hurry. They are great off ball players that can run around screens and use each other as decoys to get free.
It would be a nightmare for defenses to deal with this lineup. If you run one guy off the line, you have four more knockdown marksmen eagerly waiting. If this team were to get out and run on the fast break, the task becomes even harder.

Watching every guy try to outdo each other by shooting more quickly and from farther away would be special. Great shooters feed off of momentum and these shooters can shift that in a hurry. With Curry and Young on the floor together, the energy and overall swag of the game would reach unprecedented levels.
This is the one unit we all need to see. Make it happen, Steve.
