His largest role in his young acting career came in the season 3 premiere episode of Ballers. As Dwayne Johnson’s character, Spencer, tries to recruit more of the top talent from across sports to his agency, he puts in a call to Stephen Curry.

While walking from a runway, Curry speaks to Spencer about his interest in joining. While his scene was short in the episode, his role ended up turning into the plot focus of the show and that could mean more from Curry in future episodes.

Spencer’s boss wants Curry to be brought into the fold to woo a client in the casino business so that they can expand into more ventures. He tells him that if he can land Curry, he will repay all of the debts that he owes.

For those that have followed along with the series, Johnson’s character has had to take some loans after failed financial risks ruined him. To see Curry play a pivotal role already in a major HBO show is just a sign of things to come for him.

Johnson is one of the biggest names in Hollywood and starring in a show of his should be considered a huge deal. He’s got three acting credits to his name thus far this year and there should be plenty of more on the way. It’s not often an athlete will have a story arc of a hit show revolve around them, but Curry has it despite limited on-screen time.
