The Golden State Warriors will be stacked in real-life and in NBA 2K18. Here are the start of season rankings for Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Nick Young.
NBA 2K has practically become a household item on the level of a refrigerator or a toothbrush. I was originally going to put “washing machine” as the example, but then I came to a realization. I own every version of the game from 2K11 up to 2K17. I do not own a washing machine.
The release of the world’s biggest basketball game is a huge deal. It’s an event. Gamers flock to stores to pick up their copy and spend all day and night playing it, trying to build up their custom team or created player.

2K has become so huge that the release of certain details is significant. We’ve reached a point where the players are young enough to have grown up playing these games so they mean something to the pros as well. Nothing is more important than a player’s rating.
Slowly, but surely 2K releases information on the players’ individual ratings. It’s always the most interesting to see how the top players are ranked. Basketball is so complex and full of nuance, but the video game creators try their best to quantify how good these guys actually are.
Nick Young is ranked a 74. Though he thinks he should be much higher, this is a pretty fair ranking. A deeper look at his stats would probably reveal that his shooting attributes are pretty high.
Though Young will surely be fun to play with in the game, the people care about the stars. The official Twitter account of the video game gave us a first look at how Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant will appear in the game. And, of course, they revealed their stats to start the season.
First of all, Curry looks amazing. The virtual version of the two-time MVP looks just like him. Durant is really good, but, in my opinion, there’s something off about his shoulders (and the way his jersey sits on his body).
The Warriors’ superstar point guard is ranked a 94 while Durant is 96. The rankings fluctuate as the season goes on, with 2K matching their real-life on-court performance to their virtual one. So they both can change.

Heading into the playoffs, Curry increased from a 93 to a 95. Durant was also a 95. So, after winning a championship and nearly averaging a triple-double in the NBA Finals, Curry went down, but, thankfully, Durant went up.
The 2K promotional tweet featuring the defending champions is captioned with a simple question that we all know the answer to. They asked “who’s stopping them?” The answer is, obviously, “no one.”
