The Golden State Warriors will, likely, either play Kyrie Irving and the Celtics or Isaiah Thomas and the Cavaliers. Who is a bigger threat? Vote here.
The Golden State Warriors have broken the NBA. The rest of the league is scrambling to play catch up. Their dominance has caused teams to fall apart, panic, and implode.
Some teams, like the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets have shown impressive resolve. In the face of the greatest team the NBA has ever seen, they’ve made moves to combat them. While their efforts will, likely, fall short, they haven’t backed down. They made themselves stronger.

The team with the highest stakes surrounding them, however, is the Cleveland Cavaliers. After losing their second NBA Finals series in three years to Golden State, the Cavaliers fell apart. In a surprising move, Kyrie Irving requested a trade all while LeBron James’ future hangs in the balance.
Without a General Manager for most of the offseason, the Cavaliers weren’t able to move Irving. Players like Chris Paul, Paul George, and Jimmy Butler were all sent to different places for lesser returns than Irving. Another team that missed out on those players: the Boston Celtics.
Celtics’ GM Danny Ainge hadn’t been able to close a deal for a top player. Every single time, reports that Boston was “close” to a trade would surface after that player got traded elsewhere for less than what Boston could offer. He refused to let go of a young player and a pick for a Top 10 player.
Both of those situations came together and created something that will have the league buzzing for a while. The Cleveland Cavaliers have sent Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and the Brooklyn Nets’ 2018 1st round pick.
The two top teams in the East just swapped All-Star point guards. This will have an impact on how they’d fare against the Warriors. So which team is the biggest threat?
Thankfully, whenever there’s a tough question to be asked, Blue Man Hoop is there. Make sure you vote on the poll above. Which team, if they made it to the Finals, poses a bigger threat to Golden State?

While many fans are in the replies saying neither, I’m not suggesting that either team got better than Golden State. But one team has to be, even slightly, more well-equipped to give the Warriors trouble than the other. Irving has really caused a lot of problems for the Dubs while Thomas weakens an already-soft defense, but LeBron James is still there.
