The Golden State Warriors will not bring Paul George on board next year despite the rumors that have started to spread on social media.

The Golden State Warriors have a star-studded lineup. They have four legitimate All-Star players and that doesn’t include the player who was named the Finals MVP in 2015. They are stacked.

This isn’t cheap though. Despite the fact that Kevin Durant took a pay cut and both Draymond Green and Klay Thompson are on decent team-friendly deals, Joe Lacob has had to spend a lot of money. Stephen Curry signed the then-richest deal in league history right after free agency opened and they had to spend to keep other core players like Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston.

Lacob and co. don’t mind spending because they’ve put together a winner. The Warriors aren’t just great; they’re the epitome of excellence. With a Core Four like they one they have, they are the favorites to win the next several championships. After a dominant 16-1 record in the 2017 postseason, they look like they’re

Still, there’s always the fear (from 29 other teams) that they might get better. They weren’t supposed to get Kevin Durant. So, at this point, anything is possible.

There are rumors that the Warriors might be in on All-Star Paul George. The Indiana Pacers reportedly called Golden State about a potential George for Thompson swap. Nothing came of it, obviously, and the Pacers dealt him to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Despite the trade, George only has one year left on his deal. Many suspect that he will be joining the Los Angeles Lakers next summer. And, depending on how the Thunder do, he could stay and try to build something with Russell Westbrook, if he decides to stay.

George will not be a Warrior. Golden State doesn’t want to break up their championship core for him in a trade. And they won’t have the money to sign him in free agency.

It’s a fun idea to think of a lineup of Curry/Thompson/George/Durant/Green terrorizing the league.  It’s just as fun to watch social media speculate when George and Green were seen together in Las Vegas during the Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor fight. It’s not going to happen.

Still, it’s not going to happen.
