Golden State Warriors Roster Rankings: 3. Draymond Green

Draymond Green has been the heart and soul of this team during the Steve Kerr era. His contributions on the defensive and offensive end are incredibly value for the Warriors.

You could make the argument that Draymond Green is the most valuable player on the Warriors roster.

We all know what he can do on the defensive end. He’s the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, he’s blocking 1.4 shots and swiping 1.3 steals per game, he’s grabbing 7.7 rebounds, and he’s really started to turn up the intensity on the defensive end after the All-Star break.

He’s also a fantastic facilitator on the offensive end as he ranks sixth in the entire NBA in assists per game (7.4). Draymond has struggled with his shot this season shooting under 30% from three, but he’s still managing to score 11.3 points on just under 9 shots per game, and those shooting deficiencies are masked by being surrounded by three other All-Stars in the starting lineup.

Green has admitted that this hasn’t been his best year, but his regular season performance doesn’t matter as long as he continues to step up in the playoffs.

Green’s most important qualities can’t be measured by stats as he continues to be the unquestioned leader of this team, and his teammates feed off of his emotion and passion for the game.

Draymond’s offensive skill and his intangibles, along with his intelligence and playmaking ability on the defensive end, make him the next-best player on this roster behind the two former MVP’s.
