Golden State Warriors upset Thunder in Oklahoma City
The Golden State Warriors came into the house of the Oklahoma City Thunder and came out of it with the upset victory.
Following a 117-107 win over the Phoenix Suns last Sunday, the Golden State Warriors kicked off a two-game road trip on Tuesday, coming away with a close 111-107 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder at Chesapeake Arena.
Despite an early push by OKC, the Dubs closed the gap late in the first quarter to trail 27-24, which they followed up with a 30-20 second quarter to establish a 57-47 lead at halftime.
The Thunder won the third quarter 34-27, pulling within three to start the final quarter. Golden State answered with a narrow 27-26 fourth quarter to successfully close out the night.
The Warriors improve their regular season win/loss record to 57-21 and increase their current winning streak to three consecutive contests.
They’ll look to push their streak to four straight on Thursday when they go to visit Bankers Life Fieldhouse to play the Indiana Pacers, closing out yet another season series.
Golden State has only four games left in the season, three of which will be on the road. They’ll make their last regular season appearance at Oracle Arena on Saturday against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Tuesday night in OKC
Playing almost as if he had played at Chesapeake exclusively for nearly a decade, Kevin Durant paced the Golden State Warriors with 34 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block.
He played 36 minutes, shooting 9-of-25 from the field, 2-of-9 from behind the arc and a perfect 14-of-14 from the free throw line.
Klay Thompson has continued to find his rhythm just in time for the 2018 postseason, posting 20 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals in 35 minutes.
He shot 9-of-19 from the field and 2-of-8 from long range.
Next: Should we be worried about the long term health of Steph Curry?
Quinn Cook filled in quite nicely once again for the injured Stephen Curry, finishing with 12 points, three rebounds and six assists.
He was the only other Warriors player to finish in double-digits, shooting 4-of-6 from the field, 2-of-4 from three and 2-of-2 from the charity stripe.
