Golden State Warriors: BACK TO BACK TITLES! DYNASTY!!!
The Golden State Warriors sweep the Cleveland Cavaliers to win the 2018 NBA Finals, winning their second consecutive NBA title with a 108-85 victory.
Never thought I’d say this, but the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors have successfully defended their NBA title, sweeping LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2018 NBA Finals.
In their fourth-straight matchup against “The King,” the Warriors have come away victorious for the third time, cementing a 3-1 all-time Finals lead.
The Dubs came right out of the gates firing on all cylinders, dropping a 34-25 first quarter. For many Warriors fans, this came to some surprise considering how often Golden State has looked lackadaisical to start games all season.
The Cavs put up a much more considerable fight in the second quarter, but the Warriors were able to match Cleveland’s intensity, retaining their nine-point lead going into halftime.
Unfortunately for the Cavs, Golden State had one of their typical third quarters, scoring 25 points while limiting Cleveland to a mere 13. GSW’s 21-point lead heading into the fourth quarter proved too much for the Cavs to overcome, ending the NBA Finals much earlier than previously expected.
Steph Curry: Finals MVP?
Stephen Curry put all his critics to rest with his Game 4 performance in the 2018 NBA Finals, putting on a MVP-worthy performance with a solid 37-point performance. He added six rebounds, four assists, three steals and three blocks on 12-of-27 shooting from the field, 7-of-15 shooting from behind the arc and 6-of-6 shooting from the free throw line.
Kevin Durant actually won Finals MVP, dropping in 20 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, one steal and three blocks in 38 minutes, shooting 7-of-17 from the field, 0-of-3 from long range and 6-of-6 from the charity stripe.
Klay Thompson started off cold, but he soon found his rhythm in the second half, finishing with 10 points and six rebounds. He went 4-for-10 from the field and 2-for-5 from three.
Next: Steph and KD -- Best duo of all time?
Andre Iguodala also came up big off the bench, tallying 11 points, two rebounds, two steals and two blocks on 4-of-8 shooting (three three-pointers).
