Golden State Warriors: New names revealed on 2018 Summer League team
Rion Brown, Jeff Roberson and Gian Clavell will join the Golden State Warriors on their 2018 NBA Summer League tour.
Fresh off their third NBA title in four years, the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors have continued to put in championship-level work through the offseason, gathering a strong group of players for their Summer League squad.
We’ve already briefly touched on some of the earliest roster reveals, starting with Jordan Bell, Damian Jones and Jacob Evans. Blue Man Hoop co-expert Andrew Ites also wrote up an in-depth piece earlier this week on the NCAA’s second-highest scorer, Kendrick Nunn, who last played with Oakland University in Michigan.
In addition to those aforementioned guys, we provided you with other names confirmed to be with the Dubs this summer. We’re talking about Marcus Derrickson out Georgetown, Jordan Howard out Central Arkansas, Nuni Omot from Baylor and Keenan Evans out of Texas Tech.
Elijah Brown, son of Warriors assistant coach Mike Brown, will also be with Warriors this summer out of Oregon, as well as Chinese small forward, Abudushalamu Abuderexiti.
The latest three names to be revealed on Golden State’s Sumer League roster: Rion Brown, Jeff Roberson and Gian Clavell.
Brown last played with French basketball club, JDA Digon. The 6-foot-6, 26-year-old shooting guard went undrafted back in 2014 out of Miami. Roberson, a 6-foot-6 combo forward out of Vanderbilt, was a senior this past year.
Some may recognize Clavell’s name from his time playing with the Dallas Mavericks last season on a two-way contract, in addition to his time playing with the Puerto Rican national team in in FIBA events.
He was unfortunately waived by the Mavs pretty early on to make space for former Santa Cruz Warriors player, Antonius Cleveland. Clavell eventually turned his attention overseas, last playing with Turkish basketball club, Sakarya BB.
Yahoo Sports analyst Jordan Schultz reported both the Roberson and Clavell signings, while Sportando’s Nicola Lupo reported Brown’s agreement.
The Warriors are scheduled to participate in both the California Classic Summer League in Sacramento (July 2-July 5) and the Las Vegas Summer League (July 6-17).
