Undrafted rookie Marcus Derrickson performed well for the Golden State Warriors in Summer League and he may have earned a two-way contract.

The Golden State Warriors don’t have many roster building resources available to them with their incredible payroll, so it’s possible that some of their Summer League players will have a role with the team next season.

One of those Summer League hopefuls is undrafted rookie Marcus Derrickson.

The former Georgetown Hoya played 23 minutes per night during all three games of the Sacramento Summer League where the Warriors went 3-0.

Derrickson scored 11.7 points per game with 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals per night. He also shot just 12/34 from the floor.

Derrickson performed much better in the Las Vegas Summer League where he played 23 minutes per game over three games.

He scored 14.3 points per game with 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals per night. Derrickson scored much more efficiently in Vegas going 22/42 from the field.

While there might never be another Draymond Green, the Warriors are always looking for players in the same mold as Draymond.

Derrickson has similar size to Green at 6-foot 7-inches and 250 pounds, and he showed his defensive versatility with 1.3 steals per game in Summer League.

Derrickson doesn’t have the same playmaking ability as Draymond because few players that size do. But he scored the ball well in Summer League capping it off with a 20-point performance in Golden State’s final game in Vegas.

I think Derrickson earned a two-way contract with his performance in Summer League, and I’m excited to see how he could develop in Santa Cruz.
