Draymond Green tops the list of great Golden State defenders as he is the only Warrior to win Defensive Player of the Year in the 35-plus year history of the award.
Green led the league in steals in 2016-17 with 2 per game, and he blocked 1.4 shots per night to go along with his ballhawking skills. Draymond finished second in the league in defensive real plus-minus (+5.59) on his way to winning the Defensive Player of the Year award.
Draymond has blocked 1.4 shots and swiped 1.1 steals per game during his six-year career, which includes his rookie season where he only played 13.4 minutes per night.
Some statistics don’t do justice to how cerebral Draymond is on the defensive end.
He is one of the best help defenders of all-time to go along with his incredible on-ball defense, and he is also the floor general on the defensive end making sure everyone is in the right position in Golden State’s scheme.
Draymond will probably go down as one of the league’s all-time greats on the defensive end, and he surely deserves to top this list of great Warriors defenders.
