Reason No. 2: He knows his role

Transitioning to the Warriors isn’t an easy thing to do. A player is almost guaranteed to be taking the least impactful role of his career. Even Kevin Durant certainly took more of a backseat role during his first season in Golden State than when he was in Oklahoma City.

Knowing your role within their ecosystem is something that every player must adapt to. Young, unlike any other player the Dubs could bring in, already knows his role. It’s exactly what we previously described. He’s their dynamic bench scorer.

He’s the walking bucket.

While still a solid scoring option, Young could easily be a starter on a handful of teams. However, last offseason, he decided to chase the ring, and he accomplished that. Now, it’ll be interesting to see if his priorities are in the same place.

Young signed for over $5 million last season, and the Dubs most likely won’t spend the same to keep Young in the Bay. Will he stay for the veteran’s minimum? Will he take a reduced role yet again to continue chasing rings or is one enough?

There are an array of questions that must be answered before Young re-signs with Golden State. However, having a player that knows his role is pivitol to having a successful second unit, and Young certainly knows what he’s supposed to do as a Warrior.
