Potential Trade Value

DeMarcus Cousins is a legit superstar.

While Kobe was never the same after tearing his Achilles, he did come back to an above-average level, and for Boogie, a player more reliant on his size, it might be easier to lose a bit of athleticism and still be an elite talent.

Because of that trade value, the Warriors could stock their arsenal of draft picks by trading Cousins. Would a team like Cleveland, Toronto, or Washington crave a center like Boogie enough to trade a first for him knowing he could leave that offseason?

Assuming Cousins comes back prior to the All-Star break and at least looks close to his former self, his trade value could be too high to pass up. He’d be worth at least a first-round pick, or at least a few of those should the Dubs entertain offers.

Over the last few seasons, we’ve seen numerous “franchise” players traded. DeMar DeRozan and Kawhi Leonard both seemed to be their team’s respective leader before being dealt for each other. Cousins, while not the Dubs leader, is a superstar talent like those two.

The market has been hot for talent that can elevate a team to the next level, and it should be the same assuming Boogie returns to his former self which, by itself, is a rather huge assumption.
