Jacob Evans

Former Cincinnati Bearcat and Warriors first-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Jacob Evans should come in and at least have a role on the team. The defense-first mentality that Evans plays with is something the Dubs have targeted the last few years.

Evans shouldn’t be considered an offensive threat at this point though. He hasn’t really developed a great isolation game and wasn’t a top-tier scoring threat during his collegiate days, averaging just 13.0 points per game his junior season.

However, the Dubs have proven that they can develop that trait. And, if Evans can become a reliable scoring threat, his ideal NBA comparison would be a Jimmy Butler-like player.

Evans did lead the Bearcats to boast the No. 1 defensive in all D1 college basketball last season. He’ll have the same role this season, and without too many backup shooting guards, Evans should be able to get decent minutes, especially since Patrick McCaw continues to hold out.

It’s hard to rank Evans any higher than 13, but it’s also hard to place him lower than a player like Jones. The Dubs have big expectations for Evans, so we’ll see how he performs moving forward. -NB
