Golden State Warriors: 15 best sharpshooters of all-time
Point guard Tim Hardaway was a star for Golden State prior to joining the Miami Heat. Hardaway was taken 14th overall in the 1989 NBA Draft by the Warriors out of UTEP. He was an instant starter in the rotation and turned into quite the sharpshooter in his time with Golden State.
He wasn’t the greatest 3-point shooter as a rookie (27.4 percent), but that all changed as time passed. The next season, he put up 22.9 points per game on 38.5 percent shooting from behind the arc.
The season after that, he averaged 23.4 points per contest on 33.8 percent shooting from 3-point range. During his third season (1992-93), his scoring dipped to 21.5 points per contest but he still shot 33 percent from 3-point land.
Hardaway made three straight All-Star appearances while making two All-NBA Teams. He missed the 1993-94 season, but it didn’t take the wind out of his sails upon his return in the 1994-95 season. He still managed to make 168 3-pointers, while shooting 37.8 percent from 3-point land.
He currently ranks fourth all-time in franchise history in 3-pointers made (602). Hardaway procured 19.8 points per contest on 35.5 percent shooting from the 3-point line across six seasons with the Warriors.
His son, Tim Hardaway Jr., has also emerged as a 3-point shooting specialist. Hardaway Jr. is coming off the best season of his NBA career with the New York Knicks. There’s a good lineage of sharpshooters in the Hardaway household, that’s for sure.
