Golden State Warriors: 15 best sharpshooters of all-time
Forward Klay Thompson is one of the best catch-and-shoot 3-pointers in Warriors’ franchise history and one half of what has become known as “The Splash Brothers”. Thompson was taken 11th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft out of Washington State and wasn’t considered a star right away.
Thompson hasn’t let those expectations initially slow down his progress with the Warriors. He currently ranks second all-time in 3-pointers made (1,557). He is one of only two players with over 1,000 3-pointers made in franchise history.
For his career with Golden State, he hasn’t shot less than 40.1 percent from behind the arc during the regular season and has four consecutive All-Star appearances under his belt.
He scored a career-high 60 points back on Dec. 5, 2016 against the Indiana Pacers in a 142-106 route. Miraculously, Thompson achieved the feat in just 29 minutes of actions, appearing in just three quarters. He went 21-of-33 (63.6 percent) from the field and 8-for-14 (57.1 percent) from behind the arc.
That’s not all he’s done, either. During the 2013-14, he made a career-high 11 3-pointers against the Sacramento Kings to the tune of 52 points. Efficiency has been his forte, as he also went 11-of-15 (73.3 percent) from behind the 3-point line.
Through seven seasons, Thompson is shooting 42.2 percent from 3-point range as a member of the Warriors. He’s averaged at least 3.1 makes from 3-point range in the past four seasons as well.
As one of the best sharpshooters in history, he’ll go down as one of the best if things continue to go well, which they should. His counterpart Stephen Curry however, is on a totally different planet.
