Golden State Warriors: Projecting the depth chart at each position
Center
DeMarcus Cousins
Cousins, who is expected to return prior to the All-Star break, averaged figures that the NBA has never been seen last season. He averaged over 25 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, two threes, one steal and one block.
Golden State Warriors
Those are absolutely ridiculous. Sadly, his Achilles injury set him pretty far back from receiving that desired max contract. This season is all about winning and bolstering that value to get the highly coveted max next offseason.
Jordan Bell
While Kerr wouldn’t tell us who the starting center is while Cousins is out, it’s assumed to be Jordan Bell. Bell started 13 during his rookie season last year and should continue to improve. He’s a lengthy, highly energetic big that’s elite in the pick-and-roll.
Outside of his limited range, it’s hard to nitpick parts of Bell’s game to improve on. Just like Draymond, Bell is a unique, all-around athlete that should continue to thrive this upcoming season.
Kevon Looney
Staring just four games last season, Looney did appear in 66 games. Not a top-tier scoring threat, Looney is far from a polished big, but at just 22-year-old, he has room to grow in the NBA. He had solid per 36-minute averages, but if he’s worthy of volume minutes is still up in the air.
Damian Jones
The Warriors third young center, Damian Jones, has the most still to prove. During his first two years, in the small window of opportunity he was given, he didn’t showcase too much potential. Without Boogie, this will be Jones’ time to get minutes and shine.
That’s how the depth chart should look to start the season. Make sure to let us know if you have any thoughts below in the comments.
