Inconsistent veterans (3)

In this tier are free-agent signees Alec Burks, Glenn Robinson III, Marquese Chriss.

This tier is players that’ll get minutes, but they could be inconsistent, much like this tiers’ play throughout their respective careers. That said, we have the starting and backup small forward and Marquese Chriss, who may split time at the four and five.

More from Blue Man Hoop

As for Robinson III, he’s just a few seasons removed from averaging over 40% from downtown. If he can somehow replicate that, he’ll be given all the minutes he can handle from head coach Steve Kerr.

For Burks, it’s about consistently being on the court. Burks has played over 70 games just once in his eight-year career. To add to that, he’s had a period of three straight years where he saw time in under 45 games. He must stay healthy to continue his NBA dream.

Back from 2013-2016, Burks averaged over 13 points per game yet hasn’t notched over ten per game the last few seasons. He’s proven that he can score at the highest level, but can he do so efficiently for Kerr’s lacking second unit.

Chriss, who barely cracked the roster after being a training camp addition, comes in this tier as well. He’s given another chance at his NBA career after not gaining interest during free agency. He’s proven enough to get back up minutes until Willie Cauley-Stein is healthy which could be a while.
