The Golden State Warriors are patiently waiting for Stephen Curry’s return to the court.
It was a critical blow to the Golden State Warriors playoff hopes when Stephen Curry broke his hand early in the season. The two-time MVP has been sidelined ever since and is carefully working towards a return.
Curry’s injury, along with significant injuries to other stars such as Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant and Zion Williamson has likely had a direct impact on the league’s ratings dropping from last season.
Without their infamous splash brothers, the Warriors have already been taken off of national TV multiple times this season in favor of more entertaining matchups.
According to Kerith Burke, Curry will be reevaluated at the start of next month while Thompson will be checked during the All-Star break. We will then get a more concrete idea of when to expect these two stars to be back on the floor.
It is already assumed that Thompson will miss the remainder of the season with his torn ACL. It is better to be safe than sorry with a knee injury and the Dubs have no reason to rush Thompson.
As for Curry, his hand could be fully healed by March. Because of this, it’s very likely that Curry will play before the end of the season. What does this mean for the Dubs?
Well, let’s get one thing clear, the playoffs are out of the picture. Golden State is nine games back from the eighth seed and still faces the toughest schedule in the league.
Of course, Curry’s return will help boost ratings in the Bay Area and hopefully keep the team on national TV.
The most important thing that will happen with Curry’s return is he will get a chance to build chemistry with D’Angelo Russell. The young All-Star is facing heavy expectations and will benefit greatly from playing alongside Curry.
The Warriors won’t immediately return to dominance with Curry but they will be much more exciting with him on the floor. The Dubs struggles are nearly over with as the unanimous MVP prepares for his revenge tour next season.
