The Kevin Knox deal

This is a similar deal, but it helps the Warriors build more depth.

Portis is a solid forward option, and Knox certainly hasn’t been what he was projected to be as a lottery pick back in the 2018 NBA Draft.

As for Knox, he went from scoring 12.8 points to a mere 6.4 points per game his second season in the league. The upside was there, but it’s declining at a rapid pace.

Getting into a winning organization, much like Andrew Wiggins should see, is what could help take his game to the next level. The same can be said of Portis who went to New York after his stint with the Bulls.

Both have potential, but neither has truly risen to the player they could be. That said, we already know the Knicks were shopping Portis, but their stock on Knox is relatively unknown. It doesn’t seem likely that the Warriors would be overly high on a player like Knox.

However, that pick plus their potential should be what matters, and it may have been enough to lure Golden State into a deal like this.
