As we move closer to the eventual 2020 NBA Draft, the Golden State Warriors have more and more reasons to trade their pick.

The association is so busy figuring out a safe method of bringing the 2019-20 season to an end they haven’t even had time to consider how lottery teams such as the Golden State Warriors will be affected in the upcoming NBA Draft.

Shams Charania reported that the league is targetting July 31st for their return. After giving each team a proper training camp and competing in some form of tournament to determine seedings, the NBA Playoffs will play out per usual with a champion being crowned after four best-of-seven series.

All in all, this process could take up to two months. This means that the following draft and free agency period will push the start of next season to early 2021. As a direct result, the Warriors won’t have much time to acclimate their newest draft pick before jumping right back into the postseason in April.

Other reasons the Warriors should trade

This only adds to the list of reasons the Warriors should trade their pick. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green aren’t ready to call it quits yet. This means there is no use in wasting any asset towards a rebuilding period when the franchise still has three stars on the roster.

The Dubs either need to commit to going for another title or initiate a full rebuild. They can’t have it both ways. Considering they have some of the most talented players in league history, it’s hard to see the Dubs throwing in the towel just yet.

Trading the pick for a more solidified player is the best option for the franchise. Would you rather raise another banner or get a headstart on the next rebuild?

Besides, the 2020 NBA Draft class is shaping up to be one of the weaker ones in recent years. The Dubs are much better off focusing on their current dynasty and worrying about finding the next franchise player in the future.
