LaMelo Ball’s camp has given different indications recently but it seems one of the Golden State Warriors’ top NBA Draft prospects has his heart set on New York.

The 2020 NBA Draft is only a few months away and there is still no clear choice for the Golden State Warriors. Their potential top prospect, LaMelo Ball, has reportedly made it clear that he and his camp would prefer to land in New York.

Ian Bagley reported that a number of lottery teams across the league have been informed of Ball’s preference.

"“As teams do their homework on players in the draft, there’s been a consistent theme about LaMelo Ball: multiple teams believe Ball and those in his circle prefer that he lands in New York.”"

This aligns with previous comments from Balls father, stating that LaMelo is interested in being the star of a franchise, potentially ruling out a role as a backup for Stephen Curry with the Warriors.

Though Ball told his father to “chill” on Twitter following those comments, it’s possible he really isn’t interested in playing for the Dubs. After all, not many top prospects are thrilled by the idea of being a bench player.

Ball would play an important role with the Warriors, albeit with the second unit. A chance to learn from one of the best point guards of all-time is priceless but it seems Ball would rather learn on his own.

If drafted by the Knicks, Ball would be the clear star. He would instantly become a marquee name in the biggest city in the NBA. His superstar potential would be on full display for a franchise begging for someone to save them.

While the draft is set to take place in October, the lottery will occur in late August. The Warriors, Cavaliers and Timberwolves all hold the best odds to win the No. 1 pick but this could be changed if the proposed Chicago Bubble is passed.
