Shabazz Napier

Coming out of the University of Connecticut, Shabazz Napier was hoping to be the second coming of Kemba Walker. An undersized guard that is also a gifted scorer can oftentimes be a hit-or-miss for teams.

While Napier may be closer to the miss side, he’s still in the league and could still be a quality backup on a very good team. Napier spent time this past season with the Timberwolves, who initially signed him and then the Wizards.

On the season, he’s averaging a career-high 10.3 points per game on 41% from the field and 32% from deep. The former of the two percentages drops due to Napier shooting over half of his attempts from downtown.

He’s notching a career-high 51.2% from inside the arc, a huge positive for teams looking to pick him up this offseason. A former first-round pick, the 6-foot guard isn’t going to be a dominant scorer, but he could certainly be enough to keep a lead afloat while manning the second unit.

Just like in the draft, Napier will be a hit-or-miss, but after this season, it’s starting to look like for the role Golden State would bring him in for, he could be re-write the narrative and fill the spot perfectly.
