18. Joe Barry Carroll

Joe Barry Carroll was the first overall pick in the 1980 NBA Draft.

From Purdue University, let’s just say that Carroll lived up to the hype. Like many of these other players, Carroll played six and a half seasons in Golden State, scoring over 20 points per game in four of them.

Carroll was only an All-Star once but spent his entire prime with the Warriors, except for one season in which he played in Italy instead. The two seasons before and two after that stint, Caroll averaged over 20 points per game. He was even at 18.9 as a rookie.

The one year he was an All-Star, the Warriors managed to make the playoffs — a feat for the early 80s Warriors. The heartbeat of that team, Carroll had a solid career in Golden State with averages of 20.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game.
