The Golden State Warriors have a prime opportunity to successfully steal a proven star from the 76ers who are looking to start a rebuild.

The Golden State Warriors have been mulling over what their plan is going to be for some time. Ending the season early and with the worst record in the league, they have had their eyes on the NBA Draft and who they could potentially pry from another team via trade.

The Philadelphia 76ers, on the other hand, ended the season early with a decent record in the East. They made it to the Bubble and after the seeding games landed in the 6th position. They ended up getting swept by the Boston Celtics.

A big reason for that was the injury and departure of Ben Simmons who didn’t play a minute of that series. Afterward, the front office immediately fired head coach Brett Brown and are likely to be making more changes in the coming days.

The Sixers have two known stars on their roster that the Warriors could immediately profit from — Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. Golden State could probably use Embiid more than Simmons, but Simmons would be easier to acquire.

Either way, Golden State needs to quickly realize the chaos that is currently ensuing in the Sixers’ front office and take advantage of that. They have the picks, players, and the capital to make Philadelphia an offer they could not refuse.

However, most offers would have to include the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft or one of Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, or D’Angelo Russell plus some. They might even get a steal for less based on how much the Sixers want to remodel.

One thing is for sure, though, Golden State needs to get on the phone and use this to their advantage. The defensive likeness of Simmons and the rim protection of Embiid are something that the Warriors desperately need.
