The Golden State Warriors have the second-overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, and many teams are expressing interest in their pick.

After a 2019 season that consisted of 15 wins, the Warriors found themselves with the highest odds in the 2020 NBA Draft Lottery. They were ventually awarded the second-overall pick with Minnesota winning the lottery.

With Steph Curry coming back from injury, as well as Klay Thompson, the Warriors are using their pick as leverage to immediately improve their roster. One of the teams interested in the Warriors second overall pick is the Philadelphia 76ers.

The 76ers made the playoffs last year but were quickly eliminated when Ben Simmons was ruled out for the postseason.

Shortly after being eliminated, Philadelphia fired head coach Brett Brown. Since then, they have hired Doc Rivers as head coach, and Daryl Morey as president of basketball operations after he left Houston.

Much of the 76ers offseason has consisted of trade rumors with Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. Both players are good, but can seemingly not co-exist together given their style of play, both needing the ball in their hands often.

The newest trade rumor is consisting of a 6-foot-10 point guard and All-Star in Ben Simmons and a former star center in Al Horford. In this trade, the 76ers would be trading away Ben Simmons and Al Horford, for the Warriors second overall pick and Andrew Wiggins.

The trade would help both sides in my opinion. Golden State would give up a high pick in a draft that is not very deep. In exchange for an All-Star-caliber player and a former All-Star Al Horford. Both Simmons and Horford bring size and defense to the team that lacked much of it last season.

On the other side, Philadelphia would receive a top pick to help them in what seems to be a retooling period for them. They would also receive a player who can space the floor better than Simmons can in Andrew Wiggins.

If this trade were to happen, it could propel the Warriors back to championship form.

With a healthy roster, and two All-Star caliber players added to the team the Warriors could be a force in the Western Conference once again. While also giving Philadelphia an option to pick almost anyone in this year’s draft.
