There are recent trade rumors involving the Golden State Warriors and their pick. A three-team trade that will help each team involved.
Recent rumors have surfaced of All-Star Indiana Victor Oladipo wanting out of town. There have been a few trade scenarios out there, but none quite like this one. The trade would involve three teams, two of the teams are currently in a rebuild or retool. This blockbuster trade would involve the Golden State Warriors, Indiana Pacers, and the Minnesota Timberwolves who have the number one pick in the draft.
What the Warriors would receive
In this trade, the Golden State Warriors would receive Myles Turner, a shot-blocking center from the Pacers who can also stretch the floor. They would also receive T.J. Warren, who had an outstanding stretch of games in the NBA bubble. Justin Holiday would also be involved in this trade, in a sign and trade. The Warriors would need to sign Holiday to a three-year contract worth a total of $21 million.
This trade would help Golden State get a big man who can play defense while also stretching the floor with great shooters around him.
What the Pacers would receive
The Indiana Pacers would get the biggest haul in this trade. The Pacers would receive James Johnson who is an expiring contract. They would also receive the number two overall pick from the Warriors, as well as the number one overall pick from the Timberwolves.
This trade would set them up for the future, while also helping them get rid of contracts. The two picks would surely set them up for the future. This may be the only year that the top two picks of the draft could get traded to the same team, due to how weak this draft is.
Trade would have a cap impact of nearly $40million. Saving the Pacers a ton of space to potentially sign a star in the off-season
What the Timberwolves would receive
The Minnesota Timberwolves would maybe get the best haul in this trade, that would help them win right away. The timberwolves are desperate to find more pieces to pair with Karl Anthony-Towns and D’Angelo Russell.
Minnesota would receive a former All-Star in Victor Oladipo, who is on an expiring deal. However, he would be a great pair for what Minnesota already has in place. They would also get Andrew Wiggins back in this trade from Golden State.
I do think that Minnesota would be skeptical to add Wiggins back after trading him away. This would set up Minnesota to compete in the western conference.
I think that every team would agree to this. However, Minnesota would be a tough one to convince.
