6. Carmelo Anthony

A year ago, the writing was on the wall for Carmelo Anthony. Now, he looks like he can be a real difference-maker in the right role.

Pros

Anthony has always been a deadly scorer in isolation. Though this style of play has changed across the league, the Warriors are still one of the top mid-range scoring teams. Anthony can rack up easy buckets under the Dubs system.

Last year in Portland, Anthony showed he can still be trusted to knock down big shots. He even managed to stay on the floor defensively despite being targetted by LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Cons

The stigma behind Anthony’s name came because of his reluctance to accept a smaller role. It’s unclear if this has changed for good as the former star could always want more touches – and this was evident at times in Portland.

Still, if the Warriors can sign Melo for the veteran minimum and add a seasoned vet like him to the roster, why not? It’s certainly worth the risk.
