Warriors’ role players thrive as Dubs beat Nuggets by two to open preseason play
By Justin Lee
Mychal Mulder, G
Mulder played just ten minutes on the night and was an immediate impact from beyond the arc. His shooting stroke looked excellent, and he seemed unfazed pulling in the defender’s faces while in the corner. That could be a good or bad thing, depending on the game situation.
I also thought his help and rotation defense was adequate, especially when considering the length and size Denver has on their bench. It is possible that Mulder can find himself some solid rotation minutes on this team with his shooting and defensive ability.
Kent Bazemore, F
A player that most Warriors fans should be familiar with, Bazemore is back and continuing to help Golden State in different ways.
This game was a mix of Baze’s physical and intangible things, as we saw him come off the bench with younger players and be somewhat of a leader for them. We did not see that in his first tenure with the Warriors because he was the young guy, but now the roles are reversed.
Kent Bazemore did a little scoring himself and put up 13 points in 18 minutes of game time. Bazemore will be a crucial player off the bench as he can defend wings and guards.
Tonight was just a little sample of what this team can be this season. Even if the Warriors do not return back to dominance this season, let’s hope it can be fun again.
