Andrew Wiggins
The Golden State Warriors brought in Andrew Wiggins last season right before the trade deadline.
They did more than just snag Wiggins from Minnesota but also added the first-round draft pick of one of the league’s perennial bad teams. The Wolves have potential with Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell this season, but that pick is still expected to be a high one.
The Warriors received Wiggins as one of several pieces of the deal. Having been a former No. 1 pick and never truly developing into the elite scorer that many hoped, some thought the Warriors added Wiggins just to trade him.
That doesn’t appear to be the case as he’ll enter as the team’s starting small forward. Wiggins, with over 20 points per game in three of his six seasons, may help fill the void that was created when Thompson went down.
However, he’ll prove expendable if he can’t do more than just score inefficiently. Wiggins has improved, but to stave off being a prime trade target, he needs to be better. I expect Wiggins’ rumors to be flying around at some point this season.
