Kevon Looney

Thankfully, Kevon Looney is feeling back to his normal self. Last season was rough for the big man entering his sixth season. Looney is the only player on the roster making over $4 million and not on a max-value deal.

The Warriors saw potential in their former first-round pick and re-signed him after that rookie contract expired. He went from averaging over six points per game in 80 games to a mere 3.4 per game in 20, many of which it didn’t seem like he was 100 percent.

What’s even a tad bit more concerning is the season before, the one which following he was awarded the contract, Looney shot over 62 percent from the field. Last season, he was under 38 percent.

Looney has the potential to be a terrific offensive rebounder and efficient scorer. While he wasn’t that last season, much of Golden State didn’t play up to their potential in what turned into a 15-win season, one of the worst in franchise history.

They’re back, and hopefully so is Looney. If he doesn’t rebound, then Looney, given his contract and how over the salary cap Golden State is, may be on his way out.
