Golden State Warriors: Impact of winning on opening night
By Justin Lee
The Golden State Warriors are finished with their preseason games and are now looking forward to their season opener. They will face Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets.
The Golden State Warriors are no longer the dynasty team that everyone hates, which could be a good thing. Especially when you look at this Brooklyn Nets roster, who could end up being the most hated team in the league.
With personalities like Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant on the team, the Nets could be two things. An excellent team that could turn to a dynasty or a lockerroom that clashes and does not win anything.
With the Warriors not at full strength like they once were, they are no longer considered a dynasty. As Kevin Durant is gone, and Klay Thompson will miss another full year, many believe they will not be as dominant as before.
Golden State did have a pretty successful off-season, both in the trading period and draft. The Warriors traded for forward Kelly Oubre Jr. to help make up for the Wing defense that Klay Thompson gave them.
In the 2020 NBA draft, Golden State took possibly the best player at the second overall pick. James Wiseman from Memphis is a player that can help this team get back to their winning ways.
With all these moves, the Warriors could be a dangerous team this season. What does it mean if they beat the Nets, who are considered a contender for the championship?
What Does a Warriors Win Against The Nets Mean?
If the Warriors were able to win their season opener against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday, it could mean an abundance of things.
Going into this season, the Net’s two superstars in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, are fully healthy. That is something that the Nets didn’t have last season.
Even with the two injured, Brooklyn was still able to make the playoffs as a seventh seed. Led by Carris LeVert and Spenser Dinwiddie, they went to five games with the Toronto Raptors.
With a win on Tuesday, the Warriors could solidify their place in the west. In a conference full of competitors, the Warriors need a big win to show that they are the real deal. Most people think that the Warriors will not be a contender once again due to their loss of Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant no longer on the team.
A win on Tuesday will help this team get a good start on what hopefully can be a successful season.
