Stephen Curry put the Golden State Warriors on his back and silenced his haters with a 62 point performance over Portland.

Well, it turns out Stephen Curry, after showing absolutely zero indication of a decline in the last five years with the Golden State Warriors, actually isn’t going to randomly disappear from MVP contention as he has woken up the beast and reminded everyone who he truly is.

The Steph slander reached a peak once his Warriors were defeated in embarrassing fashion for the third time in five games this season. Their loss to the Portland Trail Blazers had some of the most outlandish takes being made about Curry, criticizing his ability to carry a team. Some went as far as to say he couldn’t be the best player on a playoff team.

Hopefully, his 62 point eruption was enough to hold off the haters, for now. Curry dismantled the Blazers single-handedly, outscoring both Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum’s combined total by HIMSELF.

This beat down was pretty fitting considering the comments Lillard made before the game. I guess Steph doesn’t struggle to get his own shot after all. And, for those wondering, maybe we should have waited a few weeks before calling Curry washed up. It turns out the former MVP needed time to shake off some rust after missing nearly an entire year of basketball – who would have thought?

Curry is now averaging 32.3 points and 6.2 assists per game this season as his Dubs have overcome early struggles to break even with a 3-3 record. Their schedule doesn’t get any easier – but a focused Curry, alongside Draymond Green and improved performances from Andrew Wiggins and Kelly Oubre Jr. is going to help the Warriors remain competitive.

I understand why some were worried about the Dubs after their first three losses. However, consider this – many teams have been blown out to begin this season. Most would agree the rushed offseason played a role in this outcome. So, should anyone be surprised that the Warriors, a team who underwent MAJOR changes in the offseason, is one of the team’s having the most difficult time adjusting to the season?

Curry showed us all that he is still at the top of his game. With a few more wins, Curry will be back in the lead for MVP, where he belongs.
