James Wiseman — Rookie of the Year

While LaMelo Ball might have something to say about this one, James Wiseman should be an easily candidate for Rookie of the Year. Wiseman was the No. 2 overall selection in the 2020 NBA Draft.

After battling with Kevon Looney and Marquese Chriss, Wiseman was named the starting center, and he hasn’t disappointed. The 7-footer has averaged 11.0 points per game on over 46 percent shooting.

He’s also, to many people’s surprise, been a solid three-point shooter as well, notching .7 threes per game and over 42 percent from deep. With so much potential on both ends of the court, Wiseman’s numbers could continue to improve.

Defensively, with a 7-foot-6 wingspan, Wiseman is averaging 1.7 blocks per game. He’s impactful on both ends of the court and has provided the Warriors’ front court with exactly what they’ve needed.

Wiseman, at the end of the season, could be averaging 15 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks per game. That could be good enough for Rookie of the Year, but that will be up in the air as the competition will start to get going as well.
